Out of necessity learned to to use the Logic DAW to record his own music, and then on to recording demo’s for local bands and artists.
Initially specced and oversaw the Gospel Oak Studio install in Lapworth, moved and re-installed in its new location in Rowington
During the ‘lapworth’ days, Baz recorded the acclaimed debut Merrymouth album. Mentored, demo’d and help develop New Killer Shoes and assisted Dan Sprigg in the making of of the New Killer Shoes debut album ‘I Ain’t Even Lying’. Then went on to record, produce and mix their acoustic follow up album ‘I Ain’t Even Plugged In’.
The House Engineer
In 2013 toured with New Killer Shoes and Seattle band BRAD in the UK and Europe which included Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam), Barratt Jones (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), Happy Chichester, Shawn Smith. Regan Hagar and Keith Lowe. Stage managing, guitar tech and general madness with Rob Skinner and tour manager Mike MacNamara.
Also toured with NKS and Adam Ant in 2013.
Baz recorded Chas Hodges (Chas n Dave) for the Merrymouth follow up album ‘Wenlock Hill” and assisted Matt Butler @ Rockfield studio recording drums for the same album.

With many years of experience in recording studios, I have been fortunate to work with many great talents (artists and producers) in a variety of roles.
Every session has its own challenges but ultimately the songs and the integrity of the band have shone through.
My intention is to reflect the band’s perception of their music and I am willing to help with preproduction, arrangement, and performance. I will let my opinions be heard and if the band chooses to pursue an idea, I’ll make sure it happens.
I do not have stock sounds and techniques that I apply rigidly to every band in every recording session. Every band is different and your own tastes and concerns will be addressed.

Austen Kilburn
After Graduating from University College Salford with an HND in Music Technology, Austen joined Dep International studios in 1995. Progressing from assistant to engineer, he worked on releases for many major label artists including UB40, Steve Earle, Ruby Turner and remixes for Jesus Loves You (Boy George), Robbie Williams, Vanessa Daou and Sister Sledge before going freelance and setting up his own production room at Dep. During this time Austen engineered pre-production sessions for Ocean Colour Scene’s “Marching Already” at their Moseley Schoals studio and began album production for Jonah (Better Records) featuring Primal Scream’s recently departed drummer Paul Mulraney, eventually moving his studio to South London for a year to join the band on keyboards and vocals. Austen returned to Birmingham to set up record label Further Recordings working from a small private studio with production partner Lee Fisher (Mother), writing and producing tracks as The Nowhwere Men and Mother, remixing Takka Boom and collaborating with vocalists Kenny Thomas, Lisa Millett (Soul Rebels), Beverlei Brown, Denise Johnson (Primal Scream) and Jonathan Allen (Miss Dynamite, Lamarr). He also continued with freelance sessions at Dep and other professional studios and became a part time tutor of Music Technology at Access To Music, Birmingham.
